With over 10 years of specialist repair experience, we help homeowners, landlords and businesses throughout Newcastle and the North East save money by replacing only the failed glass.

What Causes Misted Double Glazing?

Double glazed windows are manufactured with a sealed unit containing two panes of glass separated by a spacer bar and insulating gas.

Over time, the perimeter seal can fail due to age, weather exposure or movement in the frame. Once the seal breaks, moisture enters the cavity between the panes, creating the cloudy appearance commonly known as "misted" or "blown" double glazing.

Unfortunately, this condensation cannot be cleaned from the inside or outside because it is trapped between the glass.

Signs Your Double Glazing Needs Replacing

If you notice any of the following, your sealed unit may have failed:

✔ Condensation trapped between the glass

✔ Cloudy or foggy appearance

✔ White staining inside the unit

✔ Water droplets between panes

✔ Reduced insulation

✔ Cold spots around the window

✔ Loss of visibility
